dishwashertypesYou have thought recently of buying a new dishwasher, but you are not sure which model is best to choose. You would probably like a dishwasher which saves water and energy and which is cost-efficient at the same time. However, there are many different kinds of dishwashers from those that are very simple to use, to the modern ones with extra benefit of being able to disinfect your plates and cutlery in a way you could never do by hand. Luckily, here are some helpful tips to follow in order to choose the most suitable one.

Different types Of Dishwashers

In fact, there are two basic types of dishwasher: portable, and under counter. However, the manufacturers will hype a bunch of differences between these two, but there’s only one good reason why I prefer a portable dishwasher. It is more appropriate if you don’t live in your own apartment and you need to move out one day. In that case it will be easier to take a portable model with you. On the other hand, under counter dishwasher occupies less space, and fits much better with your existing kitchen. However, if you don’t have enough money, it is likely that you will buy a portable, as you don’t have to pay for the installation.

Does Your Dishwasher Perform?

One of the most important features to consider when buying a dishwasher is the temperature of the water it is using. Manufacturers usually recommend that the temperature of the hot water a dishwasher uses should be around 135 to 145 degrees Fahrenheit. If your dishwasher doesn’t get water that is at least 120 degrees hot, it will under perform. So, use a thermometer to check the water at the tap nearest to your dishwasher.

Size Does Matter

It is important to consider the size of the dishwasher. If a family has only two members it should get a smaller dishwasher then a family of six, and run it more frequently. You should let your dishwasher work at least once a week in order to keep it lubricated, and to prevent the seals from drying out.

Running Out Of Gas

Think of buying a dishwasher which spends less energy. While all dishwashers are required by law to meet minimum federal energy requirements, some can do even better. Dishwashers which have the ENERGY STAR logo, will use about 25 percent less energy than those without it. So, now that you are familiar with all these things you can just go and shop around in order to find a dishwasher that will best suit your needs and budget, as well.
